Synonyms: Alasmidonta confragosa
Distribution: Arcidens confragosus is mostly distributed in the Mississippi River drainage, from southern Ohio west to eastern Kansas, north to Minnesota, south to Louisiana, and southwest to eastern Texas and Oklahoma. In Oklahoma, known from the Poteau and Deep Fork Rivers, but rare.
Life History and Ecology: Usually found in medium to large sized rivers, with greatest abundance in stretches with reduced or slow current and mud or mud/find sand substrate. Long-term brooder that infects and metamorphoses on multiple fish hosts including gizzard shad, white crappie, freshwater drum, channel catfish, and rock bass. Periodic life history strategy.
