Synonyms: Quadrula apiculata, Quadrula rumphiana
Distribution: Found throughout most of the Mississippi River drainage. Also occurs in various locations in the St. Lawrence River basin, Red River of the North, eastern Texas, and southeastern Louisiana. Widespread in Oklahoma rivers and some reservoirs.
Life History and Ecology: A very adaptable species that occurs in a variety of habitat from small streams to large rivers to reservoirs and in a variety of substrates. Short-term brooder that packages its glochidia in a conglutinate and is thought to use flathead catfish as a host. Equilibrium life history strategy.
